Australia’s premier air mail event, AEROPEX2019 attracted air mail enthusiasts, experts and collectors from across Australia and around the world. With a special focus on the epic flight, which of course brought the first international air mail into Australia in 1919, it was a perfect event to lead up to the 10 December centenary of the Vimy’s Darwin landing.

This special postcard was one of 12 created for AEROPEX2019 by philatelic expert and EFC2019 Committee member Martin Walker. With its special stamp, it was the first post adorned with the Adelaide Airport Post Office’s commemorative postmarker depicting the Vickers Vimy – and on the very day the Smith crew left England 100 years earlier.
